Please note that the next intake of members will take place in June 2009. The deadline for applications is April 30 2009.
The majority of Academy members belong to BAFTA UK, but each of our Nations and Regions also has a thriving local membership, and prospective applicants in Wales, Scotland or the United States may be interested in joining one of them. Please see the BAFTA Worldwide section for more detail.

The Membership Cap
The Academy’s voting membership was capped at 6500 in 2005, comprised of 5000 BAFTA UK members and 1500 BAFTA/LA and BAFTA East Coast members total. Consequently, the Academy can only take a limited number of new members each year.
Whilst we seek individuals who have made a significant contribution to the film, television and video games industries, we also aim to ensure we have a balance of experts from a wide variety of technical disciplines. This means we do sometimes have to turn down applications from areas where we may be over-represented, or when we simply do not have any spaces available for new members.
In addition, as the cap primarily applies to the number of members voting in the Film Awards, new members may not be given the option to vote in the Film Awards immediately upon joining.
Film voting places will be allocated to existing members as they become available. When allocating film voting places, priority will be given to those working in Film and particularly to those working in areas currently under-represented within the Film Voting Membership.
