This year's BAFTA-partnered 'CBBC me and my movie' competition - to inspire and enable children to make their own films and tell their own stories - opened on June 10.

'Me and my movie' is a young film-makers' competition for 6-14-year-olds. Entrants can enter individually or as a group to make an original film of no more than two minutes' duration on the subject and in the genre of their choice.

Expert advice will be on hand from a number of sources. The Academy will provide industry mentors who will give lots of advice, tips and help. There will be master-classes at CBBC media literacy events between 13-14 September at the London Thames Festival, and regional film-making workshops will run between July-September 2008, alongside red-button interviews with film-making talent.

All the entries will be judged via a number of rounds, by BBC experts, BAFTA experts and finally by a Super-jury comprising film producers, directors, children's writers and presenters who will decide the four nominations. Entry deadline is 6 October 2008.

The four nominated film-makers will be invited to attend BAFTA's Children's Awards on November 30 at which the winner will be announced and the prize awarded. The nominated films will also be shown at the opening gala of the London Children's Film Festival at the Barbican and the results will be featured on Blue Peter.
