Watch esteemed film critic Philip French talk about his career and life-long love affair with cinema.

The Academy and co-hosts, the Observer newspaper and the UK Film Council, were delighted to present a special event in honour of esteemed film critic, Philip French on Monday 21 April.

In an evening celebrating his life and work, Philip French was joined onstage by Lord Puttnam. Interspersed by film clips of French’s favourite movies the pair discuss his extraordinary career, from his work producing radio shows like ‘The Critics’ for the BBC to his most prominent role as film critic at the Observer.
